PSU President Slams Police Commissioner Amid Wage Protests

As national tensions continue to mount over wages, President of the Public Service Union (PSU), Dean Flowers, has expressed strong disappointment in the newly appointed Commissioner of Police. Speaking to Love News yesterday, Flowers did not hold back his frustration, stating that the Commissioner’s recent actions raise serious concerns about his leadership.

Dean Flowers, President, Public Service Union: “What if the taxi men they decide to join us, it will be the taxi men too ? The teachers came out yesterday to demand what is rightfully theirs. To ensure that at the end of the day they will have enough to continue not only preparing the future, the future minds of tomorrow,  but so that they can continue feeding the future minds of tomorrow which are the children that we entrust them with. And in response  Commission of Police Rosado, this is his best response. I am really ashamed of this guy. I think that he now sets himself up to be amongst the worst commissioners this country has seen because he’s been like Peter lee wild horse. He got out the gate quick. And I will say this, the public service union will not, will not sit idle by and watch teachers being bullied because Mr. Rosado and the state of Belize, the Government of Belize, Kareem Musa, the Briceño administration are behaving like bullies. These are unarmed citizens. These are teachers for crying out loud. You all are a set of bullies. Bullies.  And you ought to be ashamed of yourselves to all be men arresting women who are standing up for children. I challenge you to cease and desist from paying criminals with our tax dollars. Now we have to double pay them because of your stupidity and to take away from your ineffective policing strategy you will turn your anger on teachers.”

COMPOL Rosado took office on April 30.
