PSU Raises Concerns Over Transport Sector PPP and CEO’s New Vehicle

With more from the Public Service Union (PSU), its President Dean Flowers has issued caution on the proposed Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the transport industry.  Flowers was on a rant earlier today against the government, and how things are currently being operated.  He spoke on a reported new vehicle being acquired for the new CEO Chester Williams.

Dean Flowers, President, PSU: Yesterday, and I have to congratulate the new CEO in the Ministry of Transport, I heard a payment was made yesterday for a new vehicle, congratulations my buddy. We hope you will do a damn excellent job to ensure that when this PPP rolls out, and I want to caution the Belizean people pay attention to this bus PPP business because this is another come up. This will be another com up. If the buses are not suitable for us to ride on now what will we pay for ? What exactly will we be paying for if you are saying to us these buses are not suitable for us. So we have to be very careful on the valuation and how that exercise unfolds.”

Flowers’ remarks on the PPP come amid several recent decisions being made in government that deters them from giving the public officers and teachers the demanded salary increase.
