The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has issued a public notice announcing its intention to grant an electricity license for intermediate self-generation and supply to Coconut Point Operations Limited, located at Mile 12 on the Coastal Planes Highway in Western Lagoon. According to the PUC, the license would allow the company to generate electricity solely for its own use, with all power produced dedicated strictly to self-supply. Regulations define the allowable generation capacity for this class of license, which must not exceed one megawatt for onshore renewable generation, point twenty-five megawatts for aquatic-based renewable systems, or two megawatts for combined heat and power generation. The Commission says the proposal aligns with statutory guidelines under S.I. 39 of 2024, which govern licenses to “persons of a class” seeking renewable or hybrid self-generation systems. Love News understands that the PUC is inviting written representations or objections from directly affected parties and local authorities with a deadline of January 1, 2026, for submissions. The Commission will then review all submissions before making a final determination on the license.
