Punta Gorda Town Council Appoints Jahrine Avila as Deputy Mayor

Residents of Punta Gorda now have a new Deputy Mayor following a recent decision by the town council.  Councilor Jahrine Avila, who was first elected to the council in 2024, has been selected by her fellow council members to serve in the leadership role. Her appointment marks another step in her public service to the southern municipality.  As Deputy Mayor, Avila is expected to work closely with the town’s mayor and other councilors to support ongoing development initiatives and improve services for residents.  Among the priorities outlined by the council are continued infrastructure improvements and community-focused projects aimed at strengthening the quality of life for residents across the town.  Speaking with Love News, Avila shared her thoughts on being chosen to serve as Deputy Mayor and the responsibilities that come with the position.

Since joining the council in 2024, Avila has been involved in municipal initiatives focused on community development projects, infrastructure improvements, public services and town beautification and engagement with residents and community groups./
