The People’s United Party (PUP) at 75 roving exhibition arrived in Belize City this week, aligning with national activities marking the birthday of the Right Honourable George Cadle Price, Belize’s National Hero and founding leader of the PUP. The exhibition, which launched in September 2025, was curated by the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) and has been touring the country as part of the PUP’s 75th anniversary celebrations. It chronicles the party’s evolution and highlights key moments in Belize’s political and social development. Officially introducing and welcoming the exhibition in Belize City was Minister of Culture and Senior PUP Executive, Francis Fonseca, who emphasized the importance of safeguarding political history and ensuring that the legacy of George Price and the PUP is passed on to future generations.
Minister Fonseca also spoke about the major milestones featured in the exhibition, noting that it documents pivotal moments such as the struggle for self-government and independence, social reforms, and the party’s role in shaping modern Belize.
A distinctive feature of the Belize City leg of the exhibition is the installation of a billboard on the PUP Secretariat building on Queen Street, displaying the four leaders of the People’s United Party since its founding: George Price, Said Musa, John Briceño, and Francis Fonseca. The visual display underscores the continuity of leadership and the party’s enduring influence over 75 years. Organizers say the roving exhibition will continue its nationwide tour, offering Belizeans an opportunity to reflect on the PUP’s historical milestones and its ongoing contribution to national development.
