Asha Melville, representing the Delaford Village Council, has been crowned Ms Tobago Heritage Personality in the recently concluded competitions held last weekend at the Tobago Heritage Festival 2025.

Seven personalities took part in this year’s event.

Melville outshone the competition, which included both a talent segment and a gown portrayal.

Leading up to coronation night, delegates also took part in an interview segment, which contributed to their overall score.

Ms Melville also won several special prizes, including Site Spotlight, Ms Intelligence and Best Talent.

Following her win, the 35-year-old told the Tobago Festivals Commission that the victory came as a surprise, but that she was grateful to her family and community.

The event, themed “Moments in Time”, was sponsored by long-standing partner First Citizens along with Holiday Snacks.

Following this event, on the morning of July 26, 2025, masqueraders took over the streets of Plymouth for Tobago Ole Time Carnival J’ouvert.

This year’s presentations brought creativity and social commentary to the streets of Plymouth with bands and bandleaders such as Hype 868, Bago Limers, Country Bookie, Kleon McPherson and Tessa Alfred all in winners’ row.

Later that evening Garvé Sandy cemented her legacy by copping the Heritage Calypso Monarch title for the third consecutive year.

Performing her original composition “Be Patient” and a vintage rendition of “More Tempo” by Calypso Rose, Sandy left her mark on the judges of the event.

Eight finalists delivered their performances based on this year’s theme: “Time Longer Than Twin” as well as a vintage calypso from the years 1975-1985.

Each calypsonian was adjudicated based on lyrics, music, artistic expression/performance, delivery, presentation and impact.
