Kevez Quintero scored the lone goal as T&T Under-15s battled to a 1-0 win over Guatemala for the bronze medal in League B of the 2025 Concacaf Boys’ Under-15 Championship at the Stadion CD Jose Wever in Oranjestad, Aruba, yesterday.
Quintero, who ended with a team-high four goals, got the decisive item as early as the 12th minute against the run of play, beating goalkeeper Mario De Paz with a shot across goal from inside the right side of the 18-yard box.
Guatemala’s chances of getting back into the contest were dented just before the half-time interval when De Paz was shown a straight red card by referee Ray Torres of Puerto Rico.
This after De Paz hacked down T&T’s Jaylon Roberts, who won a foot race with defender Guillermo Quinones following a through ball from Jeremai Nanton.
In the second half, T&T failed to add to their tally, but at the other end of the field, goalkeeper Christian Telfer was not really tested either, as they eventually finished the tournament on a high after a disappointing 6-2 semifinal loss to Jamaica on Friday.
In their Group E round-robin match played earlier in the week, T&T defeated Antigua and Barbuda and Bermuda both by 2-0 margins before a 3-0 trouncing of Barbados, while yesterday in the final, Jamaica blanked Puerto Rico 2-0 with goals from Tevin Savage in the second minute and Kelvin D Brown in the 70th.
