The annual Rainforest Blue Marlin Open Water Swim competition is set for the world-famous Doctors Cave Bathing Club in Montego Bay, on Saturday.
This year’s Open Water event has attracted entries from top Jamaican swimmers who are preparing for upcoming international competitions including the Junior Pan American Games, Goodwill Championships and World Juniors scheduled for August.
Organised by the Montego Bay-based Blue Marlin Swim Club and sanctioned by the Aquatics Association of Jamaica, this event has developed into one of the premier Open Water events in Jamaica.
The meet will have three individual events, 600 metres, 1.5 kilometres and 3 kilometres open to all age groups.
There will also be a 4-by-100 metres Open Relay named in honour of Sarah Newland Martin who was a big supporter of swimming in Western Jamaica.
In addition to the swimming events there will be an exhibition of water polo and artistic swimming.
