Reggae artiste Ras I is expressing grief following the sudden death of his manager, Apryl McIntosh-Smith, who reportedly passed away on Saturday in Gran Canaria, Spain.
McIntosh-Smith, who headed Niche Entertainment Group, was in Spain to participate in WOMEX 2026 as a member of the Caribbean Women in the Business of Music delegation.
The circumstances surrounding her death have not been made public.
Ras I paid tribute to his manager on social media, remembering her not only as a professional partner but also as a close family figure.
In his message, the singer described McIntosh-Smith as “a mother, a protector and a big sister in one,” while reflecting on the laughter, disagreements and teamwork they shared.
He ended the emotional tribute with the words, “Jah see and know Apryl it doesn’t feel real not one bit. Always love Bossy.”
McIntosh-Smith’s Niche Entertainment Group was one of eight women-led music businesses chosen to participate in the international programme, held from October 21 to 25, 2026.
WOMEX provides a platform for music industry professionals to build connections, explore collaborations and strengthen the international presence of Caribbean music.
