Defending champions Real Madrid came from behind twice to beat Manchester City 3-2 in a European Champions League classic at the Etihad today.

Erling Haaland shot City ahead after 19 minutes, but Killian Mbappe drew Madrid level on the hour mark.

Haaland restored the lead for the Citizens from the spot in the 80th minute only for former Manchester City player Brahim Diaz to level for Madrid.

Jude Bellingham then popped up in added time to give Madrid the advantage going into the second leg of their knockout round playoff in Madrid in 8 days time.

In other first leg playoff ties today Ousmane Dembele scored twice as Paris Saint Germaine beat Brest 3-nil in their French derby.

PSV Eindhoven lost 2-1 at home to Juventus, while Borussia Dortmund went to Portugal and beat Sporting CP 3-nil.
