Popular dance competition Red Bull Dance Your Style returns to the Jamaican stage this August for its fifth staging, promising a night of culture, high energy, and freestyle flair. Set for August 23 on the lawns of Devon House, the showdown will feature 16 of the island’s top dancers, all vying for a chance to represent Jamaica on the international stage later this year.
The 2025 edition spotlights talents handpicked by renowned choreographer Latonya Style, who will go head-to-head in one-on-one battles, freestyling to genres such as dancehall, reggae, pop, and classic old-school anthems. With no judges, the crowd decides who advances each round.
The challenge is to adapt on the spot, and create a routine that captures not only the hearts of the crowd, but showcases their own individual style of dance.
Pumped with excitement, Style, shared, “Red Bull Dance Your Style is such a powerful event that truly shines a light on our local dancers. It brings people together to witness the incredible range of talent and creativity we have right here in Jamaica. From old school flavour to new school innovation, every performance tells a story. I’m genuinely excited for this year’s staging and encourage everyone to come out and celebrate the top dancers who continue to keep our culture alive and evolving.”
This year’s lineup features a dynamic mix of dancers, all ready to battle for the title of Red Bull Dance Your Style Jamaica champion.
Among them are Tevin Shaw, better known as Killer Bean; Trevor Syncon, stage name O’Neil the Great; Oshane Gilzene, known as Londy Smashing; Adrian Jones, aka AJ Impact; Jordane Williams, stage name Yuntry Made; and Demar Rose, known as Dip Gad. Also competing are Stephan Ledgister (Baby Ice); Khajeefe Hyde (Sir Khaj); Travonte Walsh (Vonte Immortal); Melvin Miller (Gryzzly Bear); Delroy Douglas (Neko Diamond), and Conray Richards (Rey Shady Squad). Rounding out the list are Akili Chambers (Sashi Chippy), Shanelle Buchanan (Smilez Top Notch), Randeen Hamilton (Baby Girl Immortal), and Trisann Dough (Sylva Dubai Baby).
The competition made its debut in Jamaica in 2018 and since then has seen four champions: Pancho Cautiion (2019), Flexx Cautiion (2021), Joel Immortal (2022) and Skitta Star (2023).
Reigning title-holder, Skitta Star, shared the transformative power of dance as well as words of inspiration to this year’s dancers.
“Dancing is a freeing experience that allows you to express yourself. This competition is important not only to me but to the dance community because it gives dancers a platform to showcase their talent and the opportunity to unlock new opportunities and experiences for their development.” He explained, adding, “To this year’s dancers I say work hard, dance harder and the most important goal is to have fun.”
This year’s staging celebrates Jamaica’s influence on global dance culture, as the winner will go on to represent the island at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final in Los Angeles, California on October 11, facing off against top freestyle dancers from more than 30 countries.
