The Reggae Boyz were lifeless as they limped to a 1-0 loss to Guatemala in their opening match at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Carson, California on Monday night.
Oscar Santis bagged the lone goal on 32 minutes to give the Central Americans their first victory over Jamaica in 13 years and their first ever at the Gold Cup in six tries.
The Guatemalans made nine changes to the team that lost 3-0 to Jamaica in a World Cup Qualifier in Kingston eight days ago.
With the win, Guatemala moved into second place in Group C on goal-difference behind Panama who beat Guadeloupe 5-2 in the earlier game.
Jamaica will next be in action on Friday against Guadeloupe at Paypal Park in San Diego California at 6 pm Jamaica time.
The top two in each group advance to the quarterfinals.
