Jamaica’s national senior men’s football team beat Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 at the GTech Stadium in London on Tuesday to advance to Saturday’s final of the four team Unity Cup Tournament.
Kasey Palmer gave Jamaica the lead on 25 minutes with a cheeky penalty after Renaldo Cephas was brought down in the area.
Debutant, Rumarn Burrell, made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute. The Soca Warriors responded almost immediately thanks to Isaiah Leacock.
Captain Kevin Molino brought Trinidad level six minutes later converting from close range after a free-kick deflected off the Jamaican custodian.
Just when it seemed penalties would decide the game, Richard King scored from the spot with a minute left in added time, after Cephas was again brought down.
Coach of the Reggae Boyz, Steve McClaren, says they should have put the game to bed from the first half.
McClaren says the players were happy to put a smile on the faces of the fans.
