REGGAE GIRLZ goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer has signed a one-year deal with Women’s Super League (WSL) champions Chelsea after three months of being on loan from the Tottenham Hotspur.
This move will see the 34-year-old parting ways with Tottenham after six years.
“The last six years at this club has been a journey with many lessons learnt. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and playing with some fantastic humans past and present, so for that I’ll always be thankful,” Spencer wrote under an Instagram post.
“Some fans have been amazing and stuck by me and this team for many years, and it has always been appreciated, so thank you.”
“I make this decision to leave and I can look back knowing I gave my all to the club from the very start of its WSL journey and conducted myself to the best of my ability under some very challenging circumstances. I wish the players the best of luck for the future,” she said.
She returns to Chelsea after previously playing for the club between 2016 and 2018.
Spencer said she looks forward to coming back to the west London environment on a permanent basis.
Having played for international clubs such as Arsenal, Birmingham City, West Ham, and Tottenham over the course of her career and playing a key role on the Reggae Girlz squad since 2021, Spencer brings a wealth of experience to the Chelsea team.
