Relative arrested in relation to woman’s shooting death

The relative of a woman who was shot and killed at a Cunupia doubles stand early on Saturday morning has been detained as part of ongoing enquiries into her death.

Police confirmed that Susan Madrano-St Louis and relatives visited Sauce Doubles on the Southern Main Road at around 8.25 am when they got into an argument with people in a Nissan Tiida over a parking spot.

One of St Louis’ relatives told police that the persons in the Tiida attacked them with knives, wounding them.

The relative – who is a licensed firearm holder – pulled out his pistol and fired at the attackers, but shot St Louis by accident, as the attackers escaped.

Cunupia Police visited the scene and arrested the man.

Officers also seized the pistol and Firearms User’s License (FUL) and was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

Region III Homicide detectives visited the scene as Central Division Police searched the area and nearby communities for the attackers
