Repeat Drug Offender Sentenced to Three Months for Crack Pipe Possession

Fifty-two-year-old Kervisha Harris is back behind bars after being sentenced to three months in prison for a drug-related offense. Harris was charged with a single count of possessing drug utensils after being found with a crack pipe. She appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Ludlow Black, where she pleaded guilty to the charge. This is Harris’ fifth conviction for a drug offense within the last year. Due to her extensive criminal history, Magistrate Black stated that he could not overlook her repeated convictions. While considering her guilty plea, he still opted for a custodial sentence.
