In a clash of two of the NBA’s hottest teams, the Detroit Pistons overcame defending champions the Boston Celtics 117-97 in Detroit.
Malik Beasley scored 26 points, and Cade Cunningham with 21 points and 11 assists led the way for Detroit.
It was the Pistons’ eighth straight victory and ended a 12-game losing streak against Boston, two nights after stopping a 10-game skid against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The eight-game run is Detroit’s longest since a 10-game win streak in 2008.
Jayson Tatum scored 27 points and Derrick White and Payton Pritchard each had 18 for Boston (42-17), which had won six straight and 10 of 11.
Jalen Duren added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Detroit, which had a 49-33 rebounding edge.
In other games Tyrese Haliburton scored 33 points and dished out 11 assists as the Indiana Pacers stopped the Toronto Raptors 111-91.
Jalen Brunson bagged 34 points in helping the New York Knicks past the Philadelphia 76ers 110-105.
The Portland Trailblazers turned back the Washington Wizards 129-121, the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Brooklyn Nets also 129-121 and the LA Clippers tagged the Chicago Bulls 122-117.
