Retiree’s Truck Vandalized During Lobster Fest Weekend

A Belize City retiree is reporting significant damage and theft from his pickup truck after leaving it parked on Handyside Street while he attended the Caye Caulker Lobster Festival. 62-year-old, Kevin Morris reported to the Crimes Investigation Branch office on Sunday, that his black 2005 Chevy Colorado LS pickup was vandalized and stripped of parts. Morris stated he parked his truck around 3:30 PM on Saturday.  Upon his return to Belize City yesterday, after being notified by a friend, he found the vehicle on Western Avenue with considerable damage.  Stolen items from the truck include a front grill, a left side mirror, two front headlights, and a ratchet set, totaling an estimated at fifteen hundred dollars. The vehicle itself sustained damage to the ignition, the left side door lock, and had a broken right rear light and right-side mirror.  Police have recorded a statement from Mr. Morris, and a Scene of Crime technician processed the vehicle, lifting partial prints. Investigations are ongoing.
