Retiree sexually assaulted during home invasion

A retiree from Princes Town was sexually assaulted during a home invasion on Saturday.

The woman told police she went to bed around 9 pm on Friday, and around 1.30 am, she awoke to find a Spanish-speaking man armed with a knife inside her bedroom.

The suspect approached her, touched her body, and forced her to engage in sexual acts before leaving through a door on the eastern side of the house. He left her with cuts and bruises on her body.

After the intruder fled, the victim realised her home had been ransacked.

Police found a bent metal burglar-proof gate and an open glass door on the eastern side of the house. Her cellphone and other items were missing. The woman was taken to the Princes Town Health Facility, where she received medical treatment. Police are now searching for the suspect.
