TLDR
What Are the Prettiest Beaches in Curaçao?
Curaçao’s prettiest beaches are mostly found along the island’s west coast, where spots like Cas Abao, Grote Knip, and Playa PortoMari stand out for their clear water and coastal views. Quieter beaches like Daaibooi and Playa Jeremi offer a slower, more tucked-away side of the island. If you’re planning a romantic stay close to some of Curaçao’s best beaches, Sandals Royal Curaçao puts you right in the heart of it all.
23. Santa Martha Bay
Best for: Quiet views and a tucked-away beach day

If views that inspire are what you’re after, Santa Martha Bay beckons in the most serene way. This beach near the village of Soto in Curaçao is about as alluring and peaceful as it gets. If you choose to venture here, it’s a good idea to go with a group that includes people who’re familiar with the beach.
22. Sint Joris Bay Beach
Best for: Kite surfing and steady trade winds
Sint Joris Bay Beach in the north of Curaçao is just where you need to be if a day of kite surfing is your idea of a good time. Whether you’re looking to get into the action yourself or just want to watch other kiteboarders in action, you’ll be in perfect company at Sint Joris Bay. If you’re new to kite surfing, you’ll be able to sign up for lessons on the beach to help you get comfortable in the water. Access to the beach and parking are both free.
21. Playa Canoa
Best for: A wilder side of Curaçao

In the north of Curaçao Playa Canoa calls out to beach lovers who prefer a more rugged experience. The scenery here is wild and wonderful, and there’s a small inlet where you’ll be able to swim. Playa Canoa is quite rocky and often there’s large waves on this beach. As such, a beach experience here is less about sunbathing on sandy shores and more about surfing for those who choose to go.
20. Caracas Bay
Best for: Casual beach days close to town

Caracas Bay beach is part of the Curaçao Underwater Park off the island’s southeast coast. This beach is popular with residents simply because it is convenient. You won’t need to worry about paying an admission fee, and while there, you’ll have access to several small restaurants in the area. With calm water most of the time, you can have a pretty decent dive experience here.
19. Director’s Bay Beach
Best for: Diving near limestone cliffs

Director’s Bay Beach on the southeastern coast of Curaçao is also known as Lover’s Beach. This beach was once privately owned and resumed public status as of 1985. Director’s Bay is relatively secluded and surrounded by limestone cliffs. It’s a great choice for diving with a steep drop off near shore. With a dive here, you’re likely to come across eels, sea horses, octopus, blue parrotfish, yellowtail snapper and various sponges. There’s also a sunken ship known as Tugboat here as well.
18. Cabana Beach
Best for: A lively beach club atmosphere
Cabana Beach is that carefree beach you’ve probably seen in your dreams. Those all-too-vivid dreams where you’re laid out in brand new swimming gear, staring up into clear blue skies, with palm trees in the vicinity. In real life, this beach is beautiful, and as tropical as they come. There’s a restaurant and bar here as well, both of which you can enjoy during your visit. This beach is the kind where a single afternoon somehow becomes one of the most memorable moments of your trip.
17. Kokomo Beach
Best for: Sunset drinks and easy afternoons

The Beach Boys made searching for Kokomo a real thing with their 1988 hit song, ‘Kokomo’. This feel good jam sounds good on any Caribbean beach, but it’ll sound even more amazing as you lay back and relax at Curaçao’s very own Kokomo Beach.
This beach is about 15 minutes from Willemstad in Vearsenbaai (Vearsen Bay), and it really lights up on weekends. During the week the beach tends to be quieter. This can be a good time to go if you want a more low-key experience. There’s a restaurant here and an in-water swing set that is considered one of the most popular photo spots in Curaçao.
Aside from that, there’s also a dive center and lots of cozy spots to lounge around. Spend at least one afternoon here until around sunset, there’s often live music and delicious food being served up at the Kokomo Beach Restaurant.
16. Karakter Beach
Best for: Long lunches by the water
Aside from the fact that Karakter Beach is simply magnetic, there’s a restaurant here as well that can really add some flavor to your beach day. On the menu at this beachside spot are options like tapas, grilled fish, and a range of other items served up in the most delectable way. A romantic beachside dinner after a day of lounging in the sun will definitely be a possibility here.
15. Playa Santa Cruz
Best for: Nature lovers and slow beach days
Private cabanas, bird watching opportunities with a nearby mangrove, and massages on the beach. This is just a glimpse of what you can expect to find at Playa Santa Cruz in Curaçao. With lots of space to roam around freely, this beach is just right for unwinding and getting back in touch with nature. There’s a bar, restaurant, and restrooms available here, which add a level of convenience.
14. Jan Thiel Beach
Best for: Beach clubs and watersports

Jan Thiel Beach is as energetic as beaches come. If you’re looking for an action-packed beach day, this is your spot. Even better, there’s enough space here to find a quiet corner too. Spending the day here presents lots of options, from watersports to beach side dining. You can enjoy the sand and sea and somewhere in between pay a visit to one of the nearby beach clubs to dine. Stone oven pizza and BBQ meals are often on the menu.
This is a great spot if you’re looking to enjoy a day outside of your resort. There’s an entrance fee, and you’ll also need to pay for beach chair rentals and parking.
13. Daaibooi Beach
Best for: Local snacks by the sea
Daaibooi Beach is great for a casual beach day. It’s not a fussy beach, but most who go there appreciate that in addition to just enjoying the ocean, it’s possible to enjoy some Dutch goodies and fried food from beach vendors. Some of the local items you can try here include Broodje Kroket (bread with fried meat), bamischijf (fried noodle patty), fresh fish and fries, and more.
12. Playa Kalki
Best for: Reef diving and snorkeling
Playa Kalki is home to the popular Alice in Wonderland coral reef. It’s one of the more popular diving beaches in Curaçao and sits in a small cove framed by limestone cliffs. Access to the beach is via stone steps carved into the rock, which already sets the tone before you even reach the water.
The reef here is the main highlight, and once you’re in the water, visibility is usually strong enough to take in both the coral formations and the marine life that moves through this area. There’s also a dive shop on-site. If you get hungry, a snack bar and several restaurants and bars nearby make it easy to stay a little longer than planned. You can also rent loungers and palapas if you’re in the mood to simply relax by the shore. There is no admission fee, and parking is available in a small public lot right nearby.
11. Mambo Beach
Best for: Families and nightlife in one spot

Mambo Beach, also known as Seaquarium Beach, is a family-friendly stretch of sand loved by parents for its calm, shallow waters. It sits right next to a local seaquarium, which is where the name comes from. The beach feels like something straight out of a glossy travel spread, complete with thatched tiki umbrellas dotted along the shoreline.
You’ll find all the beach facilities you need here, plus a few shops and bars to browse at an easy pace. There is even a mall nearby for a little extra exploring. Watersports are available too if you’re in the mood for a bit of action on the water.
As the sun sets and weekends roll in, the beach shifts into an entertainment hub, with concerts and even movie nights bringing a lively rhythm to the shoreline. There is usually an admission fee to enter this beach area.
10. Playa Forti
Best for: Cliff jumping and coastal views

Views that allow that mellow island feeling to really sink in are what you will find at Playa Forti. Here, fishing boats drift across the horizon and the island’s western tip stretches wide in the distance. The sand here is brown with a coarser texture, giving it a different character from many of the other beaches on the island.
There is a parking area close by, along with snack bars and a restaurant where you can take a relaxed break between dips. A steep ramp and steps lead down to the water, and for those chasing a bit more thrill, there’s also the chance to try cliff jumping for an added rush.
9. Blue Bay Beach
Best for: A full-service beach day
The glistening blue waters and soft white sands of Blue Bay Beach are a must experience when in Curaçao. This beach in Willemstad is one of the island’s best, and you’ll see why the moment you settle in with a beach chair rental, or simply lay out your towel and let the day unfold.
You will find umbrellas and palapas for shade, along with a handful of restaurants and bars nearby when you feel like a bite or a cool drink. This beach is also a great spot for diving, with the Coral Gardens dive site just offshore. There’s even a dive shop right on the beach to make things easy.
8. Playa Lagun
Best for: Snorkeling beside fishing boats

The colorful fishing boats off the coast of Playa Lagun will catch your eye the moment you arrive at this laid-back beach, loved by swimmers, divers, and fishermen alike. Whether you head into the water or stay on shore, the setting has an easygoing vibe that’ll make you want to slow down and stay a while.
The waters here are crystal clear and perfect for snorkeling, with plenty of marine life just beneath the surface. It’s the kind of place where the island pace takes over, and all you’ll need to do is be present.
7. Playa Piskado
Best for: Swimming with sea turtles

Playa Piskado (also known as Playa Grandi) in Sabana Westpunt is where you’ll be able to get up close and personal with sea turtles. It’s one of those Curaçao moments that stays with you long after you’ve left the island. If you arrive before noon, you’ll catch the beach in motion as fishermen begin tossing chum into the water and the sea quietly shifts into something more alive. Before long, turtles start appearing just offshore, gliding in close and moving with an ease that feels almost unreal.
There’s a pier where you can lean out and watch everything unfold below you, or simply stand back and take in the rhythm of it all. When the moment settles, head to the beachfront snack bar for simple, satisfying bites served up with the breeze still rolling in.
Expert Tip: The turtles at Playa Piskado are wild animals, so resist the urge to touch, chase, or crowd them in the water. The less they’re disturbed, the more naturally they behave, and that’s when the real magic happens.
6. Playa Jeremi
Best for: Quiet sunsets

Playa Jeremi in Willemstad is one of those spots that feels like it reveals itself slowly. A short drive brings you to a small parking area, where steps carved into the rock lead you down into a secluded cove. The shoreline sits in a classic Curaçao mix of rugged coast and clear blue water, where conditions can be calm and inviting, though the sea can shift at times with light surge along the edges. There are no on-site amenities, so you’ll need to arrive prepared. Bring all you’ll need for your beach day.
If you visit this beach, stay for the sunset. This is when the cove feels at its best. There is no entrance fee and very little shade, so planning ahead for sun protection is worth keeping in mind.
Good to know: Playa Jeremi has rocky coastal edges and patchy reef structure just offshore and along the sides of the cove. Snorkeling is fairly good here on calmer days, with clear water that adds to the experience.
5. Kleine Knip / Playa Kenepa Chiki
Best for: Smaller crowds and calm water
Simple and real, that’s what sets Kleine Knip apart. Add in its striking coastal landscape and you have one of those Curaçao beaches that’s absolutely worth a visit. Set between Westpunt and Lagun, about 50 minutes from Willemstad, the drive slowly opens into dry hills rolling toward deep blue sea. It’s a highly rated beach that feels small in scale but generous in feeling, with calm water that just invites you to stay longer. There’s no cost for parking or admission, and beach chairs and umbrellas are available once you arrive. When things really heat up here, it’s nice to know cold fruit smoothies are usually available at the beach stand, keeping the day easy and refreshed.
4. Cas Abao Beach
Best for: Easy snorkeling with great amenities
Cas Abao is gorgeous and at the top of the list for beach goers in Curaçao. This is a large beach, and the striking blue color of the water draws you in right away. Right after you pay the entrance fee required for access (if you’re arriving by car), that is. You’ll have to shell out some cash if you want beach beds as well, but they can be worth the added comfort. Sometimes this beach is crowded, but it usually isn’t hard to find a spot to set up for a few relaxing hours. The earlier you arrive, the better.
This beach is one of the more convenient spots on the island, with a dive shop, watersports, and food and drink options available nearby. Take lots of photos while you're there, you'll be glad you did!
3. Playa PortoMari
Best for: Diving and full beach facilities

Photo credit: Luiz Felipe V. Puntel/Shutterstock.com
Number three on our list is Playa PortoMari in Bandabou. This is one of those beaches that really has it all. A restaurant for dining, a bar, diving with a dedicated dive shop, bathroom and shower facilities, and beach chair rentals are all available here. The beach sits on a private estate known as Plantages, with water that is usually calm and clear. There is a double reef for anyone who wants to dive, and dives can be arranged through the on-site operator. From the beach, you can also access two nature trails that lead into the surrounding landscape. A beachside restaurant and bar brings it all together, and the beach itself is accessible for a small admission fee.
2. Grote Knip / Playa Kenepa Grandi
Best for: Classic Curaçao views

Playa Kenepa Grandi, also known as Grote Knip, is located near West Punt in Curaçao. This is a white sand beach with amazing views, popular with sunbathers, swimmers, and those who come to snorkel or dive. This beach is free to access, with lounge chairs, kayaks, and snorkelling gear available for rent. Washroom facilities are also available for a small fee. There are no concession stands here, so it’s best to bring food and plenty of drinks with you. Otherwise, you may catch local vendors depending on the day.
1. The beach at Klein Curaçao “Little Curaçao”
Best for: A true off-shore island escape
And we’ve finally made it to the top of our list! That place belongs to a spot locals will undoubtedly point you to from the moment you arrive. The beach on Klein Curaçao island.
This beach is probably the one you picture when you start daydreaming about a Caribbean getaway. Places like this can feel hard to come by these days, but Klein Curaçao still has that far-removed, barely touched feel people travel for. The beach is bright, open, excellent for snorkeling, and super private too. So private, in fact, that you’ll need to hop on a boat to get there. Klein Curaçao is also known as “Little Curaçao”, and it is a tiny, uninhabited island 15 miles off the southeast coast of Curaçao. It takes about two hours each way to get to Klein Curaçao from the mainland.

Playa Gipy
Near the village of Westpunt, you'll find Playa Gipy which is a small, wild and rocky beach. This isn't a very touristy beach, and for many visitors it can be difficult to find. In fact, sometimes the people who stumble upon this beach are those who drive to the lighthouse in this area, so in that sense getting to Playa Gipy can be quite the welcome surprise. To reach the beach, you'll need to park near the Watamula blowhole and make your way down on foot. As this beach sits close to the north coast, the sea here can often be rough and unpredictable, so swimming is only recommended on calm days and with caution.
Playa Santu Pretu
Santu Pretu translates to black sand, and that’s just what you’ll find on this Curaçao strand. This beach is relatively secluded, and you’ll be able to tell right away that it’s the kind of place where nature has been left well enough alone. The road leading to Santu Pretu is gated, so the only ways to reach it are on foot or by boat. Starting from the parking area at Santa Cruz, it’s roughly a 15-minute walk to get there. There are no beach facilities here, but the snorkelling is pretty awesome.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the prettiest beach in Curaçao?
Cas Abao and Grote Knip are often considered the island’s most scenic beaches, but it really depends on the kind of setting you prefer. Playa Jeremi and Daaibooi are strong choices for those who enjoy quieter, more natural surroundings. In the end, the prettiest beach is the one that matches your vibe.
Are Curaçao beaches man-made?
Most are not. Many of Curaçao’s best beaches are natural bays and coves shaped by the sea along the island’s rocky western coastline. Mambo Beach is one of the few man-made exceptions, built with a breakwater on the east coast. Out west, the beaches are largely natural.
Are Curaçao beaches crowded?
It depends on the time of day, the day of the week, and whether a cruise ship is in port. West coast beaches are usually quieter, especially on weekday mornings. Checking the cruise ship schedule before heading out can make a big difference.
Are Curaçao beaches rocky?
Some are, especially along the west coast. Playa Kalki, Playa Lagun, and Playa Jeremi all have rocky entry points, which also makes them great for snorkeling since the rocks support coral and marine life. Water shoes are a good idea.
Which Curaçao beach is best for snorkeling?
Playa Lagun, Playa Piscado, and Tugboat Beach are among the island’s most popular snorkeling spots. For diving, Playa Kalki and Playa PortoMari, known for its double reef, are standout choices.
Where can you swim with turtles in Curaçao?
Playa Piscado is the best-known spot for sea turtle sightings. Daaibooi Beach is another beach where turtles are often seen close to shore. Always give turtles space and observe them respectfully.
Is Klein Curaçao worth the trip?
Absolutely, especially if you want a more remote beach experience. The uninhabited island is known for its bright white sand, clear water, and excellent snorkeling and diving. Booking a tour with shade and facilities included is highly recommended.
What is the best beach in Curaçao for couples?
Kleine Knip, Playa Jeremi, and a sunset visit to Playa PortoMari all make great options for couples. For those wanting a resort stay close to some of the island’s best beaches, Sandals Royal Curaçao is well positioned along the west coast.
Do Curaçao beaches charge an entrance fee?
Some do. Cas Abao, Playa PortoMari, and Pirate’s Bay charge a small fee per car, while many west coast beaches including Playa Kalki and Playa Jeremi are free to access. Bringing cash is helpful, as not all entry booths accept cards.
