Richard Smith Appointed Head Coach at KC

Sports Master at Kingston College, Richard Smith, will be the new Track and Field head coach at the North Street based institution.

Smith will replace Leaford Grant who is stepping down after leading the school to a fourth straight title and 36th overall at the 115th staging of the championships in March.

Grant won five titles in charge, but announced before the championship that this year would be his last, in the year of the school’s 100th anniversary.

Smith, a past student of Edith Dalton James has been a mainstay of Grant’s backroom staff, with special responsibility for the quarter-milers and recently helped the school to a fourth straight Penn Relays Championship of Americas 4x400m title, the first school to do so in over a century.

Jeremy Delisser is to be Smith’s assistant.
