Niurka Garcia Linton, Director of Sales at RIU Resorts Jamaica
Director of sales at RIU Resorts Jamaica, Niurka Garcia Linton, says RIU is helping to attract more visitors from South America and sections of Europe including Portugal and Spain.
Speaking recently with Nationwide News, Ms Garcia Linton says Jamaica is ideally located for Latin American tourists, leading to significant increases in occupancy at the hotel.
RIU Negril recently reopened it’s doors after undergoing a four month renovation and facelift. Among the new facilities are ‘swim-up’ rooms and two-bedroom family suites accommodating up to six guests.
The food and beverage offerings at the hotel now includes a ‘make your own taco’ concept, they call Tiki Taco, an American comfort food restaurant along with indoor and outdoor steakhouses available 24/7.
The Spanish hotel chain now boasts seven locations across Jamaica including the newly reopened RIU Negril.
Ms Linton says the upgrades will allow the hotel to tailor offerings to people from around the world. She says the upgrades are timely given the expected uptick in visitors from Spain and Portugal in the summer.
Last November, it was announced that weekly non-stop flights from Portugal to Jamaica would begin this summer.
