Two of Jamaica's most impactful modern reggae and dancehall voices, Romain Virgo and T.O.K., will be honoured at the 2025 Grammy Certificate Ceremony, presented by Back 2 Da Future Music Ltd. in collaboration with The Royalty Network Inc. and Steely & Clevie Productions.
The red-carpet event will take place on September 13, at the Audi Showroom in Kingston, and will be live-streamed globally. The recognition celebrates both acts' contributions to the Grammy-nominated album The Reggae Power (2014), produced by Sly and Robbie and Spicy Chocolate. The album brought together a dynamic mix of reggae and dancehall artistry for a global audience. T.O.K. also earned a Grammy nomination for its feature on Red Star Sounds Presents: Def Jamaica (2005), a project that fused reggae, dancehall, and hip hop in a ground-breaking way.
Known for his powerful voice and heartfelt performances, Virgo has been a driving force in bridging classic reggae soulfulness with contemporary storytelling.
"We are very proud to have been a part of Romain's journey from Rising Stars and Vikings Productions via VP to the present day. Rarely does a day go by that we are not basking for some reason in the mature, world-renowned artiste that Romain has become. This is but one small way that we can help highlight Romain Virgo as he steps into his greatness," said Kennedy Mensah, CEO of Back 2 Da Future Music Ltd. "Honouring artistes like Romain Virgo and T.O.K. reflects how Jamaica's sound continues to evolve while staying rooted in tradition. Next stop is to watch him get the trophy for one of his own albums."
Royalty Network Inc.'s clients, T.O.K., the globally celebrated dancehall quartet known for their harmonies and stage energy, have long been ambassadors for the genre worldwide.
"Over the years, our journey has always been about representing dancehall and reggae on the world stage," said Bay-C of the renowned group. "To be recognised alongside so many of Jamaica's greatest musicians is a full-circle moment. This honour is not just for us, it's for the fans, producers, and musicians who've been part of our story from day one."
By honouring Virgo and T.O.K., the Grammy Certificate Ceremony continues its mission to spotlight Jamaica's diverse talent pool - seasoned veterans and contemporary hitmakers whose contributions to Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated projects often go unnoticed. This year's event marks the second staging of the ceremony, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the reggae Grammy category and the 40-year legacy of Steely and Clevie's production career.
