Chairman of Jamaica’s Racing Commission, Clovis Metcalfe, has confirmed with Nationwide Sports that leading jockey Raddesh Roman has presented a medical clearance certificate and will resume riding on tomorrow’s race card at Caymanas Park.
Roman, who suffered falls on back to back mounts on the August 6 race day, was barred from racing on August 9.
However, Metcalfe believes the decision was done in the best interest of the jockey as to avoid any possibility of a concussion or future brain damage.
He also reminded racing lovers of jockey Romario Smith who fell from his mount back in 2020, Smith continued riding under similar circumstances and is now wheel-chair bound following significant injuries done to his body, which eventually led to him suffering a stroke.
