Former People’s National Party, PNP, caretaker in Central Kingston, Lawrence Rowe, says PNP president, Mark Golding, owes him a significant debt of gratitude.
Rowe has switched allegiance to the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP.
He told Sunday’s JLP constituency conference in Central Kingston that his work is partly responsible for keeping Mark Golding at the helm of the PNP.
Rowe was unceremoniously booted by the PNP as caretaker this year.
In the ensuing fallout, Rowe alleges that the PNP offered him $15 million, a senate seat and a board position in exchange for his withdrawal as party caretaker in the constituency.
The PNP has rejected those allegations.
Rowe was replaced by Steve McGregor as PNP standard-bearer for Central Kingston.
Reports at that time were that the PNP’s internal polling showed Rowe was trailing the party in public perception in the crucial seat. This after he initially managed to win a majority of delegate support in the seat.
According to Rowe, his poll numbers outpaced those of high-ranking PNP officials.
