Run Julie Run has easy task on Sunday

RUN JULIE RUN has a 14lb weight swing on American INSPIRE FORCE out of last month’s Alexander Hamilton Memorial at seven furlongs, a weight advantage which should hand the Jamaica Derby runner-up Sunday’s Legal Light Trophy on a platter at nine furlongs and 25 yards.

Last time out in the Ian Levy at eight and a half furlongs on April 5, brave RUN JULIE RUN tried matching strides with some big guns, chasing a rejuvenated ATOMICA, who carried the field down the backstretch in splits of 23.4, 46.1 and 57.4.

RUN JULIE RUN was still second leaving the three-pole when TIZ TOK, FUNCAANDUN and BARNABY launched their challenges heading into the turn in chase of ATOMICA churning out a six-furlong split of 1:10.4.

Eased by Dick Cardenas, the grey filly weakened into fifth as ATOMICA left the furlong-and-a-half pole in a blazing fraction of 1:23.4 for seven furlongs, which rendered her shortening rapidly and BARNABY closing for a half-length kill at the wire.

It was the second such race against Mouttet Mile runners that RUN JULIE RUN had to endure in three weeks, explaining her worst finish in 17 starts.

In the Alexander Hamilton, her prior run, RUN JULIE RUN had to chase COMMANDANT’s 34.2, 46.0 and 58.3, going past pesky MAMMA MIA to straighten second against the rail within striking distance of the foreigner.

However, similar to ATOMICA in the Ian Levy, COMMANDANT, carrying 116lb, quickened into 1:10.4 a furlong out, leaving RUN JULIE RUN for dead with 120lb, paving the way for INSPIRE FORCE to close from off the pace for second with 109lb under claiming rider Tajay Suckoo.

INSPIRE FORCE returning with 126lb under Raddesh Roman with no weight claim, 17lb heavier, a 14lb swing in favour of RUN JULIE RUN, kills the foreigner’s chances, even at the extended trip.

RUN JULIE RUN can now watch stablemate GEOLITHIC destroy NEO STAR on the lead before making her move well ahead of INSPIRE FORCE, who is simply too heavy to maintain pace on the circular-nine course.
