Sabrina Lyn Wins Silver in 100m Breastroke at PanAm Games

Sabrina Lyn etched her name in Jamaican sports history, winning silver in the women’s 100m breaststroke at the Junior PanAm Games IN Paraguay, on Sunday.

Her performance marks Jamaica’s first-ever medal in swimming at the youth-level continental championship.

With a dazzling blend of power and poise, Lyn surged through the water in the finals, clocking 1-minute-09 seconds, just fractions behind gold medalist Marie Santos of Panama 1-minute-08-point-44 seconds.

National coach, Gillian Millwood, it’s an excellent start to the meet.

The result sent ripples of pride across the Jamaican camp which resulted in her teammate Collin McKenzie securing the bronze in the men’s race in 1-minute-01-point-53 seconds with Kito Campbell finishing 7th in 1-minute-02-point-96.

The team will continue their hunt for more medals today with the youngest member Christanya Shirley will start the day proceedings in the 100 metre butterfly.

She will swim from lane 5 in Heat 1.

History maker for Jamaica and the Caribbean Sabrina Lyn will swim from Lane 5 in Heat 4 in the same event.

Kito Campbell will also contest the 100 butterfly.

He will swim from Lane 6 in Heat 1.

In the mixed 400 metre freestyle relay Team Jamaica will swim from Lane 6 in Heat 2.

Millwood says they are in record breaking form.
