A robbery on Mahogany Street in Belize City this afternoon ended with two suspected robbers being shot by their intended victim. At approximately one o’clock, police responded to reports of a robbery involving a salesman. Investigators say two dark-skinned men wearing helmets reportedly held the salesman at gunpoint and stole an undisclosed amount of money from his vehicle. During the confrontation, the salesman reportedly pulled out his licensed firearm and fired several shots, striking both suspects. Despite their injuries, the men fled along Amandala Drive toward the riverside. The two injured men later arrived at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds. Police have not released their identities or provided details on their medical conditions. Investigators processed the scene and recovered four expended nine-millimetre shell casings. Police are continuing their investigation into both the reported robbery and the subsequent shooting.
