San Estevan Water System Expansion Boosts Reliability for Residents

Residents of San Estevan Village in the Orange Walk District are expected to benefit from improved water reliability following today’s handover of water system expansion materials and power equipment by the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development and Local Government.  The initiative forms part of the government’s ongoing rural infrastructure program aimed at strengthening basic services in growing communities. The materials delivered include high-grade piping to expand the village distribution network to additional households, along with a heavy-duty 30-kilowatt V8 diesel generator intended to keep the system operational during power interruptions.  Officials say the equipment will allow the San Estevan Water Board to better manage demand as the village expands, while reducing service disruptions and improving delivery across the community. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister and area representative John Briceño, Minister of Rural Transformation Oscar Requena, Chief Executive Officer Valentino Shal, and members of the San Estevan Village Council and Water Board.

The ministry says the project is part of broader efforts to bring consistent utility services to rural Belize, ensuring villages have infrastructure comparable to other communities nationwide./
