San Lazaro Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash One Day After 40th Birthday

Bernardo Joel Melara celebrated his fortieth birthday yesterday.  One day later, the San Lazaro resident lost his life in a motorcycle accident near Yo Creek Village, Orange Walk.  Shortly after eight-thirty this morning, police received reports of a motionless man beneath a motorcycle in a roadside drain, about one mile before reaching Yo Creek Village. When officers arrived, they found Melara beneath a black Lifan dirt bike.  Initial investigations indicate that Melara was travelling to work at BSI when he lost control of the motorcycle, veered off the road and collided with a culvert leading to a cane field.  His body was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital morgue, where he was pronounced dead at ten-thirty-three this morning.
