The Labour Department’s San Pedro branch is actively recruiting community health workers on the island. These workers would serve to bridge healthcare gaps for vulnerable residents, particularly shut-ins and elderly persons who are unable to travel regularly for medical checkups. Labour Officer Shameika Cattouse told Love News that San Pedro is currently experiencing a shortage of community health workers in this capacity, creating an urgent need for more persons to get involved. According to Cattousse, the initiative is not considered full-time employment, but rather a community-based support role designed to strengthen healthcare outreach.
The Labour Department says interested individuals do not necessarily need to be trained nurses or medical professionals, but applicants should possess a strong sense of responsibility, compassion, and willingness to work closely with healthcare personnel and vulnerable residents.
