Santa Elena Chopping Case Upgraded to Murder Charge

The charge of manslaughter against 43-year-old Peter Demetrio August has been upgraded to murder. August had been charged last year for the fatal chopping of 61-year-old Ubaldo Ernesto Guzman Sr. He was formally arrested and charged with murder this morning, with his arraignment in court pending. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Guzman’s residence on Andrews Street in Santa Elena Town, Cayo District. Police say that the altercation that led to Guzman’s death took place around 10:30 pm and resulted in Guzman receiving fatal chop wounds.
