Santa Elena Police Step Up Security Outreach Ahead of September Celebrations

Police in Santa Elena Town, Cayo District, have begun engaging businesses and food vendors ahead of the September celebrations, with a focus on preventing robberies and improving security during the busy holiday period.  Officer Commanding the Santa Elena Police Sub-Station, Inspector Mark Martinez, led a meet-and-greet operation alongside San Ignacio Community Oriented Policing personnel Sergeant Erwin Canul and Police Constable Georgia Lucas.  The officers visited several establishments and spoke with business owners, vendors and security personnel about practical measures they can take to protect their operations and customers.  Inspector Martinez encouraged businesses to install monitored surveillance-camera systems, handle and store cash securely, and ensure that security officers remain vigilant while on duty. Emergency contact information was also shared so that businesses can quickly reach the police if assistance is required.
