President of the Small Business Association of Jamaica, SBAJ, Garnett Reid says the recent suspension by Jamaica post that it will discontinue the delivery of parcels and packets to the United States will have a negative impact on business.
Reid spoke with our news centre on Wednesday.
In a statement on Tuesday, Jamaica Post announced the suspension.
It says this was due to an executive order issued by the United States, which suspends duty-free de minimis treatment for all countries, effective August 29, 2025.
Jamaica post stated that Tuesday, August 26, 2025, was the final day to post parcels and packets to the US at all locations and the last outbound flight to the US for the dispatch of parcels and packets will be Thursday, August 28.
Reid says he hopes this issue can be resolved as businesses will now have to use more expensive means of getting their parcels and packets to the US.
