General manager of Independence Park Limited, Major Desmon Brown, says during the renovation of the National Stadium, the hosting of events will still be accommodated at the venue, but on a scaled down basis.
The renovation exercise will commence in 2026 through 2029 during which only the seating capacity at the stadium will be reduced.
The modern-day upgrade of the National Stadium will include a nine-lane track, modern anti-doping and media facilities, 90 per cent roof coverage and 30 new state of the art VIP boxes.
According to Major Brown, the three-year time span given is sufficient to get the work completed.
