While the ISSA All-Stars fixture will be the headline match today at St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS), the Scholastic fixture will also prove a key showcase for outstanding student athletes who are looking to make the next step in their education.

The schoolboy football post-season will close with the All-Manning Cup Selection taking on the All-daCosta Cup Selection at 3:30p.m., with the Manning Cup Scholastic team taking on the daCosta Cup Scholastic team at 1:30 p.m.

The Scholastic teams are selected from several standout players during the season who have maintained high grades in the classroom.

The players will compete under the watchful eyes of several college scouts and recruiters.

Devon Anderson, one of the coaches for the daCosta Cup Scholastic team, has praised the fixture as a key platform for students to pursue to the next step in their careers.

“This is very important for the players knowing it’s a platform for them to showcase their talents and try to get scholarships based on their performances and their qualifications based on their GPA and subjects,” he said.

“Once you aspire to achieve something out of football, whether college or professional, this will actually point you in the right direction to get your house in order, as the old-time people would say.”

Anderson continued, “This ensures they can put their best out on the field and to put their best out where the book work is concerned.”

Several key players from the urban area competition have been selected for the Manning Cup squad, which will be led by an attacking trio, Jamaica College’s Keshaun Lee-Chin, Wolmer’s Boys talisman Alex Wright, and Vauxhall High’s Chadrick McLeod.

Campion College’s midfield maestro Djaz Less is also expected to bring fireworks to the midfield, alongside Tevin Gray of St Catherine High, Kingston College’s Kamaul Patterson and Wolmer’s goalkeeper, Yuri Dryden.

For the daCosta Cup team, STETHS striker Shemmar Stewart will partner with Clarendon College’s Rwanie Rampasaul up top.

Other notable names include Manning’s School winger Kajaye Williams, Glenmuir defender James Wellington, and Garvey Maceo defender Ajani Johnson.

Anderson, who is the head coach of Clarendon College, will be joined by Cornwall College head coach Hector Wright as co-coaches for the daCosta Cup teams.

The Manning Cup teams will be led by St Catherine High head coach Anthony Patrick, and Mona High coach Donovan Duckie.
