Jamaica Scorpions are currently in fifth place after five rounds in the West Indies four day cricket Championship.

After three defeats in a row, the Scorpions finally entered the winners column with victory over West Indies Academy in the last round of games.

Champions Guyana Harpy Eagles still lead the standings after extending their unbeaten run with a 10 wicket triumph over the Volcanoes in the last round.

Closely behind in second are the also unbeaten Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

The Red Force cut into the Harpy Eagles’ lead after demolishing Barbados Pride by an innings and 56 runs inside two days.

In third position are Leeward Islands Hurricanes, who leapfrogged the Pride by crushing Combined Campuses and Colleges by 373 runs to claim their third win of the competition.

Despite their demoralising loss to the Red Force, the Pride still remain in the hunt for a playoff position and are fourth in the standings.

Both the CCC and the WI Academy are yet to win a game and sit in seventh and eighth respectively.

The competition is now on a two week break and will resume with a sixth round of matches starting April 2.
