Scottish folk meets Jamaican sounds at Bring Back the Love

3 months ago 24

The Bring Back the Love concert returns on Saturday, April 26 at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston, continuing the now-established trademark of innovative and sparkling live cabaret presentations with the best of Jamaican and international performers.

This year’s edition sees co-founder Myrna Hague return to the stage as special guest, along with singer-instrumentalist Harold Davis, and JUNO Award-nominated Canadian aggregation Jason Wilson and Ashara.

There will also be a special tribute to master drummer, bandleader and Bring Back The Love stalwart Desi Jones, who passed away suddenly on May 11, 2024. Jones’ Skool Band will also be providing musical accompaniment.

Promoters LDC Enterprises acknowledge the high bar set by the previous three editions of the concert series and expressed delight in being able to renew for this year. The promoters also recognised the massive contribution made by the late Desi Jones, and said they were proud to offer a tribute and concert experience befitting the beloved journeyman musician.

Award-winning Scottish-Canadian Jason Wilson’s Ashara project fuses Scottish folk, global roots, and reggae, delving into his family history in such a way that connects his present life to a very distant past. The group’s releases showcase not only Wilson’s stellar vocals and inimitable skill on acoustic guitar and piano, but also the leader’s innate aptitude for storytelling through poetic lyrics and beautiful imagery.
