Search on for two missing fishermen in Tobago

Two fishermen have been reported missing after failing to return from a fishing trip yesterday.

According to reports, the men departed Pigeon Point Fish Port around 6AM aboard a white and blue open-top fiberglass pirogue with registration TFT 1528 – XENA (interior sky blue).

They were reportedly heading southwest to set three fish pots, though their exact location was not disclosed.

The fishermen, who typically return between 9am and 9:30am, have not been seen since their departure.

Relatives raised the alarm after they failed to return as expected.

In a statement, the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) said all relevant authorities have been alerted, including the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG), North Post Radio, the Fisheries Department, Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment, and Sustainable Development and the All Tobago Fisherfolk Association.

TEMA said search and rescue operations commenced upon notice and continue today.
