Search Widens for Missing Police Constable Kenyon Barrow

The search for missing Police Constable Kenyon Barrow widened today, with police officers, soldiers, relatives and volunteers joining efforts to find the 24-year-old.  The search party met at eight-thirty this morning at the BDF Camp beside the Muffles College Auditorium in Orange Walk. From there, teams were sent into several areas where investigators believe information or evidence may be found.  Barrow was stationed in Orange Walk and has now been missing for more than a week. His family says they last heard from him in early September.  Investigators have reviewed surveillance footage that reportedly shows Barrow leaving his home on West San Martin Street in Trial Farm shortly after midnight. However, his movements after that remain unclear.  ASP Stacy Smith provided an update on the search and the information gathered so far.

ASP Stacy Smith, Belize Police Department: “The Belize Police Department, along with the Belize Defence Force and members of the community, are currently conducting search for Police Constable Kenyon Barrow, who is attached to the Orange Walk Police Formation and has been reported missing. Mr. Barrow was officially reported missing on September 17 by a relative who stated that on the last occasion that she was able to reach Mr. Barrow was 8 September 2026. Prior to PC Barrow’s disappearance, he had been recorded as absent without leave having failed to report for duty since 30 July 2026. During that period, the department made several attempts to contact him, both by conducting visit at his residence as well as over the phone. The department, the OC in that area, was unsuccessful in that regard and he subsequently reached out to a relative of Mr. Barrow who was able to communicate with Mr. Barrow and advise the department of Mr. Barrow’s condition. Several attempts were made to have Mr. Barrow come and regularize his status given that he was absent however those proved unsuccessful. The relative, as stated, who was in communication last spoke to Mr. Barrow around the 8th at which time they had made plans to meet up but he did not appear at that time. Through investigations, we know that the last time Mr. Barrow was seen was on the 11th of September and as stated efforts are still underway. We encourage members of the public who may have seen Mr. Barrow to forward that information to the police via 911, or they can do so anonymously via 922 TIPS as well. We are also asking Mr. Barrow if he is hearing this broadcast to kindly make contacts with his family, be it the police department or his biological family, as we are certainly concerned about his whereabouts and his safety is of paramount consideration at this time. What I can say in relation to the questions that you’ve asked is that the department has prior to this most recent incident had involvement by way of the LOTUS office, the welfare section, with Mr Barrow and they were working along with him. I spoke with the councillor and he indicated that he last met with him on 13th of July and they were to arrange other meeting sessions but Mr Barrow did not reach out to them subsequent to that. There was no significant issue that would have raised alarm to this extent. I stated he was somebody that our welfare department was working with but in my communication with the counsellor he stated there was no indication that such an occurrence would have come to pass. The department remains hopeful that we can locate Mr. Barrow and we are hoping, as I stated, that if Mr. Barrow is able to see this report that he contacts the department or member of this family because all that we are concerned about at this point is safety.”

Barrow’s mother, Therese Robinson, previously told the media that her son had been dealing with personal challenges and had stopped reporting to work. She became worried when he stopped answering his phone, saying that was completely out of character for him.  Before making the official missing-person report, Robinson searched several areas of Orange Walk herself. She says the family simply wants to know that Barrow is safe.  Police are asking anyone who saw Barrow or knows anything about his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers immediately.
