Second Attempted Robbery in a Month Targets Mo’s Market in Corozal

Just after 7:30 last night, Mo’s Market at the corner of 5th Avenue and 5th Street North in Corozal Town was the target of yet another attempted robbery, coming less than a month after a similar incident at the same location.  Love News spoke with an eyewitness who recounted seeing two suspicious men seated inside the Civic Centre compound near the fountain area. One of the men, she said, slowly moved toward the store wearing what appeared to be a red hood or mask, prompting her to immediately call police.  According to the eyewitness, the masked assailant confronted the store owner soon after entering the establishment. Realizing what was unfolding, her husband rushed over to assist, engaging moments before officers arrived on the scene and apprehended the masked culprit.  The second suspect, who had been waiting across the street, attempted to flee as police approached. This triggered a chase through the Rainbow Town area. The pursuit ended on 8th Street North, where officers reportedly fired about seven shots in the suspect’s direction as he attempted to jump a resident’s yard fence. The individual managed to escape and remains at large.  Reports indicate that the store owner sustained injuries during the struggle and was transported for medical attention. This latest incident comes barely a month after an attempted robbery on October 19, making it the second attack on Mo’s Market in under four weeks. Police investigations into both cases are ongoing.
