Belize’s young artistic talent took center stage today as the Secondary School Festival of Arts officially opened this morning at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts in Belize City. The event, which began at 8:30 a.m., brings together students from secondary schools across the country to showcase their abilities in a variety of creative disciplines including music, drama, dance, poetry, and visual arts. Organized by the Institute of Creative Arts (ICA), the festival forms part of a broader national initiative aimed at nurturing artistic expression among Belize’s youth while providing students with a platform to develop and present their talents before a live audience. Director of the Institute of Creative Arts, Kim Vasquez, says the festival plays a crucial role in engaging both elementary and secondary school students in the performing and creative arts.
Vasquez explains that the Festival of Arts has long been a cornerstone of the ICA’s cultural programming, encouraging creativity while helping young people build confidence through artistic performance. She says the event will feature a full schedule of performances and showcases throughout the day, highlighting the diversity of artistic talent emerging from Belize’s schools.
The Secondary School Festival of Arts continues at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts, with students competing and performing in multiple categories as part of a nationwide celebration of youth creativity and cultural expression.
