Senate to Debate and Ratify Safe Third Country Agreement with the United States


This coming Tuesday, November 11, the Upper House meets in a special sitting at the George Price Center, in Belmopan. The sitting will see several bills to be discussed as part of the order of the day. Three bills will be brought over from the House of Representatives namely, The national assembly (powers, and immunities), Gaming and Lotteries control, and the Civil Registry and Vital Statistics. Topping the agenda for debate is “The Resolution Authorizing the Ratification of the Safe Third country agreement between Belize and the Government of the United States of America for Cooperation Regarding the Examination of Protection Requests.” At the end of the Senate sitting, the Safe Third Country Agreement is expected to be ratified. ///
