Amid the public disagreements and personal attacks within the United Democratic Party, UDP Senator Patrick Faber is calling on members to put their differences aside and focus on rebuilding the party. Faber says the UDP cannot present itself as a serious alternative government while its internal divisions continue to play out publicly. He argues that the Briceño administration is failing in several areas and that many Belizeans are looking for a strong opposition capable of offering a different direction. Faber says the UDP must recognise that its responsibility extends beyond personalities and internal camps. He is urging members on all sides to come together, restore public confidence and prepare the party to offer what he describes as the sound alternative the country needs.
Patrick Faber, UDP Senator: “We have a Prime Minister who refuses to address the media, who jumped from one plane straight into the other without even talking to this nation. When light bills are up, when school fees are due, when we have the world happening right here at home. The weight of leadership is heavy. It’s why I salute my Party Leader. Especially when you have some….maybe I should refrain from that….I was about to say I have some idiots who still can’t behave. It’s time we unite this party and stop the nonsense. Completely united. We have made great strides don’t get me wrong. But we need to wrap it up because the PUPs are unraveling and the people are looking toward the next alternative. The people are looking toward the proven alternative of the United Democratic Party. And we have that leadership capability. And we will attempt every chance we get to demonstrate that we are in the lead there.”
