Senior Courts to Launch Criminal Law Training Programme for Criminal Justice Professionals

The Senior Courts of Belize will launch a new training programme for criminal justice professionals on Friday, October 2. Chief Justice Louise Esther Blenman and the Judicial Education Institute will launch the Criminal Law Practitioners Programme at nine a.m. in the Main Courtroom on Treasury Lane, Belize City.  The programme will bring together judges, attorneys, prosecutors, police officers and others working in the justice system. Training will cover criminal law and procedure, evidence, courtroom advocacy, case preparation and professional ethics. It is supported by the United Nations Development Programme through the European Union-funded PACE Justice programme.  To allow for the launch, the Chief Justice has declared nine to eleven a.m. Friday a dies non for the Court of Appeal, High Court, Magistrates’ Court and Family Court nationwide. Urgent applications will still be heard, and the General Registry will remain open for urgent matters.
