Sentencing Delayed Again in 2020 Micah Baltazar Murder Case

Sentencing for 22-year-old Cassian Billary has been delayed once again. Billary was convicted on June 13 of the 2020 murder of 19-year-old Micah Baltazar. Today, with his attorney Leeroy Banner present, Billary asked the court for another adjournment, citing the pending psychiatric evaluation report. The court has been waiting for the report which was first ordered on the date of his conviction. The Social Inquiry Report has been submitted, but the psychiatric evaluation remains outstanding. Justice Candace Nanton granted the adjournment until October 27. The case dates back to December 4, 2020, when Baltazar was shot and killed on Neal’s Pen Road. Police found his body with 17 gunshot wounds. Investigators believe Baltazar was lured to his death by friends. During his trial, Billary claimed he shot Baltazar under duress, stating it was “either him or me.”
