Seven Months After Tragic Crash, Rudy Che Shares Life Journey from Wheelchair

Tomorrow will mark 7 months since Colombia resident Rudy Che has been bound to a wheelchair. Back in April, Che was the victim of a devastating road traffic accident that left him with a T4 and T5 incomplete spinal injury, which causes loss of sensation and movement in the lower body. Che has been bound to a wheelchair ever since. Yesterday, Love News got an exclusive interview with him to see how he is coping with his new lifestyle, in which he says he is doing his best. Here is Paul Mahung with the story.

Paul Mahung, Punta Gorda Correspondent: “A young man in San Pedro, Columbia village Toledo who is currently confined to wheelchair from a recent traffic accident remains hopeful to walk again and return to regular life commitments. A motivated Rudy chair spoke exclusively to Love News.

Rudy Che, Accident Victim: “I’ve been doing all right. I actually had surgery at the Loma Luz hospital in the Cayo district. Since then I’ve been recovering slowly from this accident that I had. It’s not been an easy path. It’s very hard to explain that one minute you were walking and the other minute you find yourself sitting in a wheelchair. You know, it doesn’t only break you mentally but emotionally and physically. But with the help of everybody around me, family members, friends, everybody who has reached out to me, whether it’s financial, whether it’s a prayer, whether it’s just a word of advice, I really appreciate everything from everyone around there. And since then, as I said, it’s been seven months, I’ve been doing a lot better. A local clinic here in Punta Gorda, it’s called Hillside Clinic, they have a small little rehabilitation center here. They’ve been helping me a lot with physical therapy. It’s very hard for me to move around, which I need help to get to the clinic so that I can do more therapy. The more therapy, the better for me. I don’t have a private vehicle. It’s hard to get there. And I appreciate the Hillside Clinic for the work that they have been doing. They tried to see me as much as they could, like at least once or twice a week. I really appreciate that they have helped me a lot. I’ve been doing great. I’m here. I’m fighting with faith. That’s the main thing right there. Faith is going to take you a long way.  God has the last word in my life. But I believe that one day I’m going to be on my feet again. I want to thank the Belizean Dreams Resort here in Hopkins, where I was employed while I got into an accident. They have been helping me a lot, especially with trying to get assistance for me to get physical therapy all the way at home. So, a big shout out to Belizean Dreams Resort. Thank you, guys, so much. You guys have been doing a lot for me and everybody else who have been here for me. My contact information is at 628-8516 if you guys want to reach out to them on WhatsApp.  You can give me a call on regular call. I’m on Facebook also as Rudy Che. I also have a tiktok page where I have been doing a lot of videos. uh I try to inspire other people who are in this situation like this to come out. And you know, uh it’s hard to live a life like this when you keep everything within because mental health is a is a big situation in the world, not only around us. So, you know, a lot of times we keep this stuff to ourselves. We shouldn’t. So for me, exposing myself like this, getting to know people, people getting to know me, helped me a lot  in my recovery through a daily basis every day. You know, it’s a struggle for me, like I said, mentally, emotionally, emotionally and physically. But like I said, for you guys, if you guys want to reach out to me, my contact number is 628-8516.  Any help that you guys would want to, whatever, whatever you guys feel from your heart, I really appreciate it. As I said, one of the biggest burdens that we’re having right now is the surgery was  a must for us and it was very quick.”

Paul Mahung, Love FM Correspondent: “With caring family and generous people, Chair remains strong in faith and hopes that with needed and timely medical treatment, he will be walking as per normal and back to regular daily life routine. Paul Mahung, Love News, Colombia Village, Toledo.”
