Sha'Carri clocks 11.47 for fourth in season opener

World 100 metres champion Sha'Carri Richardson placed fourth in her season opener at the Golden Grand Prix in Japan yesterday.

The American clocked 11.47 seconds behind Australia’s Bree Rizzo who crossed the line in 11.38 in the women's 100m. Twanisha Terry, also of the United States, was second in 11.42, and she was followed by Canada’s Sade McCreath, 11.46.

Japan’s Hiroki Yanagita won the men's 100m in 10.06 with American Christian Miller placing second in 10.08. Another American, Christian Coleman, finished third in 10.11.

World and Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine won the women’s high jump with a leap of 1.96m.

Robert Gregory of the United States won the men’s 200m in 20.24 ahead of Canada’s Andre De Grasse, who won gold at the same stadium at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
