The Shak’s Hope Foundation is excited to announce its upcoming fundraising gala on June 17th, 2023, at the Jacaranda Country Club in Plantation, FL. The event will begin with cocktails at 7pm, followed by dinner, awards, education, and entertainment by DJ Radcliffe starting at 8pm. The event is aimed at raising awareness of sickle cell disease, in commemoration of World Sickle Cell Day, which takes place on June 19th every year.

The Shak’s Hope Foundation’s primary mission is to raise awareness about sickle cell disease, a genetic blood disorder that affects millions of people around the world. The foundation is committed to providing education and resources to the community, as well as advocating for research and treatments to improve the lives of those living with the disease.

The fundraising gala is the foundation’s biggest event of the year, and organizers are expecting a great turnout. Attendees will be treated to a delicious dinner, live entertainment by DJ Radcliffe, and a silent auction with a variety of items and experiences up for bid. All proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting the foundation’s mission of raising awareness about sickle cell disease, including repairs of medical devices that are vital to the patients they support.

The Founder Shakira Martin former Miss Jamaica Universe 2011 lost her battle to Sickle Cell in 2016, and as her legacy continues, we host an annual Easter treat for the past 6 years in Jamaica and encourage everyone to know their Sickle Cell status. Our hope is that through education and awareness, we can improve the lives of those affected by this disease.
