A woman has been sentenced to prison for the 2022 stabbing death of her common-law husband. Twenty-five-year-old Shantell Williams was sentenced to six years, six months, and twenty-four days in prison for the manslaughter of thirty-nine-year-old Louis Adolphus. The sentence was handed down yesterday by High Court Judge Derick Sylvester. Williams was found guilty of manslaughter in March after a trial without a jury. The argument began when Williams confronted Adolphus, accusing him of being unfaithful and questioning him about an umbrella belonging to a woman she believed was his affair partner. During the argument, Williams stabbed Adolphus three times, with the final wound to the neck proving fatal. The judge acknowledged that while Williams had no prior criminal record, her actions were not justified. The court was also presented with a social inquiry report that noted her positive characteristics, which led to a significant reduction in the sentence. The judge ordered Williams to undergo anger management counseling. She will be eligible for parole after serving half of her sentence.
